SYNERGY HomeCare Caregiver

Written by Amber Merten

At SYNERGY HomeCare, we are honored to recognize Yaquanda as our Caregiver of the Month! A dedicated mother of three, Yaquanda has been in the caregiving field for the past 10 years, bringing hard work, independence, and a true passion for caring for others.

Her journey into caregiving began when her grandmother was diagnosed with dementia, and Yaquanda took on the role of caregiver. That experience ignited a passion within her, and to this day, she has a special gift for working with dementia clients. She is deeply committed to ensuring they receive the best care possible, always approaching them with patience, understanding, and compassion.

From the moment Yaquanda walks into a client’s home, she builds a genuine connection with them through her calming energy. She understands that caregiving is not just about physical care—it’s about trust, kindness, and making each day meaningful. She loves listening to her clients’ stories and cherishes the moments she spends with them.

Like all great caregivers, Yaquanda has faced challenges. When clients refuse to eat or take their medications, she approaches them with gentle guidance, never forcing but always encouraging in a way that respects their independence.

Yaquanda doesn’t just care for her clients—she cares for their families as well. It can be difficult to watch loved ones go through challenges with aging and Yaquanda offers uplifting emotional support through any situation.

She constantly goes above and beyond. When a client recently asked if she could run errands that weren’t on the day’s tasks, without hesitation Yaquanda used her own time and gas to make sure her client had everything they needed. She believes in seeing every job through to the end, saying, “Once I start with a client, I always finish the job.”

For Yaquanda, caregiving is more than a job—it’s her calling. She says, “I do my best every day because one day, it could be me.” She believes that God sent her to care for others, and her advice to those entering the field is simple but profound: “Do it because you love it, not for the money.”

Yaquanda loves working with SYNERGY HomeCare because, as she puts it, “They not only love their clients, but they take care of their caregivers.” We are so grateful to have Yaquanda as part of our team, and we celebrate her dedication, kindness, and the incredible difference she makes in the lives of her clients.

Thank you, Yaquanda, for your unwavering commitment and for sharing your heart with those in need!
