What makes Synergy’s caregivers unique is their true passion for the homecare industry. One of the most passionate and this month’s caregiver spotlight, is Vonda Svendsen!
One of the many reasons Synergy choose Vonda is because she is dedicated to her clients. Her dedication comes from personal experience when she took care of her mother for 12 years. Over the years with her family, she cared for her mom and learned all that is homecare. She found it fulfilling and rewarding and realized it to be her passion. She then turned caregiving into a career and has been in the industry for 14 years!
Vonda always goes above and beyond in her work. For example, in her off time she has brought heaters to clients as well as dinners. For one of her clients who loves seafood, she has seafood boils. She boils shrimp, fry’s catfish, and enjoys the ritual with her client. Vonda said it’s great for the client because it helps them eat more. This is important as appetite and getting the proper nutrition can be a challenge when aging.
When asked about any challenges in her caregiving career, Vonda laughed and said she hasn’t had any! She truly loves her job and her graciousness overshadows any would be difficult situation or task. She says, “I just try to treat all clients they way I would like to be treated in that time of my life”. Vonda gets amazing feedback from her clients. They have full trust in her and consider her family. They have a special bond that has formed through all their quality time together. When she needs a day off she always gives a month in advance so that her clients are well taken care of.
Vonda had worked previously in the hospitality industry but didn’t like how impersonal it was. As a Synergy caregiver, the one on one time with each client and the relationship they form is the biggest blessing. Vonda is transparent and so easy to converse with, it’s no surprise that her clients love her! She explained how with each new client, she spends a week or two watching and observing their habits and routines so that she can best help them with their wants or needs. She gets to know them so well that she can tell when they are having a bad day and may need an extra smile. One year, during Halloween, she had busted her front teeth and to cheer her client up she gave a toothy grin and said, “See, you don’t have to go out to see a Jack O Lantern!”.
Vonda loves working with Synergy because she said they have been the only company that appreciates what her and the other caregivers do. They have 24/7 support and are on top of hours and scheduling so every day runs smoothly and she can focus on the client.
Synergy is so grateful for Vonda! She is always reliable and ready to work. Her love of people, passion for what she does, and respect for others, makes her one of the best caregivers in the industry.
